Who doesn’t want to celebrate National Hamburger Day? Well, maybe vegetarians. We can all celebrate National Chocolate Cake Day!
There are so many holidays now, it’s impossible to find a reason not to celebrate. These unique holidays can turn any drab day at the office or random night at home into something fun.
If you need a little something to brighten your life, mark these four unheard of holidays on your calendar.
1. National Fun at Work Day
Yes, January 28th is National Fun at Work Day. Who doesn’t like a little fun at work? Have your co-workers wear goofy clothes, organize some office games, have a joke-telling (PC of course) contest.
If you work at a restaurant, this is a great night to play Server Bingo. Draw up bingo cards with quirky customer attributes in each block. Should anyone hit a bingo, they get a fun prize. Who doesn’t want an old wine key?
You can celebrate National Fun at Work Day even if you’re the boss. Come up with fun pay check stubs for different occasions.
If you now work from home thanks to Covid-19, this coming National Fun at Work Day might be harder to pull off. It can be done! You can coax your office mates into a virtual game day or virtual happy hour.
2. National Eat What You Want Day
May 11th is National Eat What You Want Day. If you’re single, cohabitating without kids, or married without kids, this can be a fun one. Give yourself permission to eat cookies for breakfast (if you don’t already), and breakfast for dinner.
Or whatever else you want. How about a prime rib lunch? Do it up if you can. If you feel like a Snickers bar for dinner, there’s no reason not to have one.
If you have kids, National Eat What You Want Day has to come with exceptions. You know your kids. Without parameters, they’ll eat candy and cake for every meal. By the end, you’ll have kids with sugar highs bouncing off walls.
3. National Left Hander’s Day
Not all of these niche holidays revolve around food. August 13th is International Left Hander’s Day. Celebrate all the lefties in your life with a fun, left-handed specific gift. There are plenty like left-handed can openers and left-handed scissors.
For a little more devilish celebration, play a fun prank on your left-handed compadres with slow-drying ink pens or gift them a “left-handed screwdriver.”
4. National Vegetarian Day
You don’t have to be a vegetarian to celebrate National Vegetarian Day on October 1st. While this has to be one of the most unpopular holidays for carnivores and steak lovers, consider it a challenge!
If you eat meat, go one day without. That doesn’t mean eating salad and raw vegetables though. Find a great meatless recipe to make for dinner. Celebrating this day is a way to honor the vegetarians in your life and learn something new.
Unique Holidays Every Day
Unique holidays are every day now, and there are so many you can celebrate. All of these and the other holidays to be aware of make for a little bit of fun in an otherwise drab week or month.
You can’t celebrate every single one of them, so pick the ones that work best for you. Or celebrate one at random if you need a pick-me-up.
